So, I made a stocking. Yep, it’s still August. I’ve been wanting to make stockings that I really like for the whole family, but I really wanted to like them, rather than only sort of like them like the ones that I made for the girls a couple of years ago. So, I did some research and decided on some cute felt ones with applique embellishments. Luckily, I hadn’t already started on them because a couple weekends ago something magical happened…
I found this wool child’s sweater at a garage sale, and this Martha Stewart Holiday book, with sweater stockings inside, at the library.
And I proceeded to make the following:
The ones in the book were not lined, but I lined mine because it’s easy and I did not felt the sweater I was using (and there was a tiny hole in it) so I figured it would function better as a holiday stocking with a sturdy lining.
I even got kind of fancy with the lining because I wanted to keep the button up neckline of the sweater working, so I made a slit in the lining to follow the neckline of the sweater.
And voila!
