So today I went with my friend to get her wedding dress fitted and since the dress shop was in Old Town Alexandria, we decided to make a day of it.
First we had lunch at a place called the Communal Table (I think), but as usual, I forgot to snap a picture of my pretty lunch until I’d already eaten half of it. It’s a fresh, local, organic French eatery and my quiche was super good.
Then we walked down to the dress shop for the fitting and these are some of the random dresses I photographed while trying to stay out of the way.
Following the fitting, which was just off of King Street, we headed into the sudden rain (temp still in the eighties) and began some much anticipated shopping.
A bunch of vintage brooches displayed prettily against a little black dress…
A super cool lion picture made up of various human body parts and faces. Every time I looked at it, I saw new ones.
My brother and I totally had these cups when we were kids…too bad we didn’t hang onto them ($65!).
Here’s a shot of one of the costume jewelry drawers in my favorite antique shop (same shop as the lion print).
The window of a favorite yarn shop next door to the favorite antique shop…I always love their window displays.
Gorgeous hand-dyed silk ribbon inside that I’m going to try to make a couple of necklaces out of…
Flowers outside the yarn shop…
It was a good time. 🙂
