So, I’ve been saving the girls’ random event t-shirts that they’re receiving more and more frequently these days; what with races, soccer, school, etc. My intention is to make a quilt for each of them from said tee’s; and to my delight, that means that it will be at least a few years, if not several, before there are enough tee’s to construct a sizable blanket (even longer if I back it with more shirts!). Hooray for justifiable procrastination!
The other day though, I noticed that these tee’s were in a tangled pile in a box, rather that in some neat and tidy, organized storage system, so of course, I had to take care of that right away. Also, I didn’t want them getting mixed up and be forced to guess later.
I’m starting with 2-gallon zip locks which should be plenty of space. I labeled them with a sharpy and we’re good to go. I also opted to keep them in the kids’ closet since that’s usually where I hide from the kids with a cocktail am when I come across another shirt to contribute to the cause.
Of course, I always let the kids wear the shirts for a while first if they want to. (I’ve never been the type to not let the kids wear something for fear of getting it dirty.) I figure the blankets will have more character with stains and a couple patches, right?
So, check back in ten years and we’ll see if I followed through…considering my record, I’d say odds are 50/50.
